For purposes of demonstration in this video, we’re using a John Deere 5100R Utility Tractor (US CA), a Frontier GS1184 Ground Driven Overseeder (US CA), and integrated AutoTrac Guidance (US CA), a factory-installed option available on 5R Family tractors, and other John Deere equipment.
Simply put, AutoTrac uses GPS guidance technology to steer your tractor in a straight line in a field or pasture that you have mapped by driving it’s perimeter, and then programmed a work path into AutoTrac for the tractor to follow. Once the mapped area and work path have been established, AutoTrac can guide the tractor on the line created, while the overseeder we’re using does its job.

While AutoTrac is guiding the tractor on its long march through a big field, eliminating gaps and overlaps, never veering right or left more than one degree, the operator is free to keep an eye on the overseeder operation, be fully engaged with the entire environment, work long hours, but never succumb to boredom, and avoid being worn out at the end of the day.
