Pick up grass clippings using a drive-over mower deck

The drive over mower deck for your John Deere Compact Tractor has made it easy to mow that large lawn of yours. And now you can pick up grass clippings with a drive-over mower deck just as easily. If not removed, those clippings can lead to thatch buildup, which can block water and fertilizer from reaching the soil and roots. Leaves left on your lawn in the fall and winter can smother your grass and inhibit spring growth. And leaves and grass clippings are both great additions to a compost pile, building nutrients for everything that grows.

So if you’re running a John Deere Compact Tractor with a drive over mower deck, you should know about the Frontier Material Collection System (US CA), or MCS. With it you can pick up grass clippings and make year round lawn cleanup faster and easier.

For this project, we’ll be using a John Deere 1025R Compact Utility Tractor (US CA).

The PTO-powered MCS is iMatchTM (US CA) compatible. So hookup is as easy as it can be. You just focus on the top hook and everything else falls into place. Then make sure the locking levers are closed and locked. Attach the PTO and safety chain. And you’re ready to go.

To pick up grass clippings with a drive-over mower deck, the Material Collection System boot attaches to the discharge opening of a compatible John Deere drive over mower deck without using any tools. Then the ends of the blower hose are attached, connecting the boot to the collection hopper, using simple U-hooks that attach to retainer bolts.

As grass clippings come out of the chute, they’re blown through the blower hose into the collection hopper. When the hopper is full, the collected clippings can be dumped wherever you like. And just imagine how much easier leaf pickup will be in the fall.

Picking up grass clippings with a drive-over mower deck has never been easier.

The MCS is available in two models – the MC2014 with a 3-bag/14-bushel collection hopper that’s emptied by hand. And the MC2120 with a 20-bushel bulk collection hopper that’s emptied from the tractor seat.

Both models are compatible with 54-, 60-, and 72-inch (137, 152, 183 cm) John Deere mower decks that are compatible with many John Deere 1, 2, and 3R Series Compact Utility Tractors.

So if you want to pick up grass clippings and leaves with a drive-over mower deck in less time and with less work, a Frontier Material Collection System added to your John Deere Compact Tractor and drive over mower deck can be just what you’re looking for.
